JOSE ANTONIO TORRES

He is a contemporary artist with more than 20 years of professional experience. His work has been exhibited in cities such as Madrid, São Paulo, Miami, Wynwood, Los Angeles, Paris, Buenos Aires, Puerto Vallarta, Bogotá,  and Lima. He has participated in art fairs including JUST LX (Lisbon, Portugal), JUSTMAD (Madrid, Spain), Feria de Talleres (Santiago, Chile), the Salon of Contemporary Art in Louvre Museum (France), and the Uberbau House Residency Program in São Paulo (Contemporary Art Research). He has also been a speaker at a panel discussion on the 35th São Paulo Biennial at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Querétaro, Mexico; delivered a talk in Cusco, Peru focused on his contemporary art research project; and participated in two talks at Casa América in Madrid on Latin American contemporary art (2024 and 2025).

In his work, he studies and researches his Sound Art project. He experiments with frequencies and waves, exploring their connections between form and color. His practice investigates emotional aspects and the visibility of the invisibility of sound. He works by linking music with different forms of expression, pop culture, and relationships between space, memory, and remembrance, among other approaches. He explores cultural elements such as musical scores, tones, volumes, textures, and other concepts found within musical culture.

Previously, he developed painting series such as “The Universe of Dreams” and “Mystery,” while continuing his research across new media and formats. He is driven by a passion for constant questioning, theoretical development, metaphor, and creative processes that challenge the cultural establishment.
